A Vote for Me is a Vote for Nine Lives of Prosperity

By adopting these political stances, Whiskers is not only addressing issues directly affecting pets and their human companions, but Whiskers is also championing broader progressive ideals such as sustainability, community well-being, and inclusive urban development. This campaign resonates with a wide range of voters, showcasing a commitment to making Portland a more livable, compassionate, and forward-thinking city for all its residents—two and four-legged alike.

Advocate for green spaces and environmental policies that not only benefit Portland’s human residents but also its wildlife. This includes promoting bird-safe buildings, supporting local wildlife rehabilitation centers, and increasing green spaces where pets and their owners can enjoy the outdoors together.

Push for stronger animal welfare laws, including no-kill shelter policies, support for feral cat trap-neuter-return (TNR) programs, and increased funding for animal shelters. Advocate for pet-friendly housing policies to ensure all residents can keep their pets without facing undue burdens.

Propose initiatives to integrate pet therapy programs in hospitals, schools, and senior centers, recognizing the mental and physical health benefits of human-animal interactions. Support community health by advocating for public spaces that are accessible and enjoyable for both pets and their owners.

Encourage the development of pet-friendly businesses and amenities, such as cat cafes, dog parks, and pet boutiques. This approach aims to boost local economy and tourism, making Portland a leading city in pet-friendly destinations.

Work towards making public transportation more pet-friendly, allowing easier mobility for pets and their owners. This includes designated pet areas on buses and trains, as well as improved accessibility for service animals.
